Large N QCD – Continuum Reduction and Chiral Condensate

چکیده
Continuum reduction in large N QCD enables one to extract physical quantities in the N → ∞ limit of QCD by working in small physics volumes. The computation of chiral condensate is an example of such a calculation.

Continuum Reduction and the Thermodynamics of QCD
It is noted that if large Nc continuum reduction applies to an observable, then that observable is independent of temperature for all temperatures below some critical value. This fact, plus the fact that mesons and glueballs are weakly interacting at large Nc is used as the basis for a derivation of large Nc continuum reduction for the chiral condensate. The structure of this derivation is quit...
متن کاملThe domain wall fermion chiral condensate in quenched QCD
It is a common assertion that quenched lattice QCD qualitatively produces many of the features found in continuum full QCD. However, a quenched simulation is expected to include topological gauge configurations which produce exact fermion zero modes. Not suppressed by the missing fermion determinant, such modes will cause divergent behavior in the small mass limit of the chiral condensate. Surp...

We study the strong coupling limit of the one-flavor and two-flavor massless 't Hooft models, large − N c-color QCD 2 , on a lattice. We use staggered fermions and the Hamiltonian approach to lattice gauge theories. We show that the one-flavor model is effectively described by the antiferro-magnetic Ising model, whose ground state is the vacuum of the gauge model in the infinite coupling limit;...

Numerical evidence combined with Eguchi-Kawai reduction indicate that there are no finite volumes effects in the large N limit of QCD as long as the linear extent of the four-torus is bigger than a critical size. This is referred to as continuum reduction. Since fermions in the fundamental representation are naturally quenched in the large N limit, as long as we only have a finite number of fla...

We investigate the finite-temperature phase structure and the scaling of the chiral condensate in lattice QCD with two degenerate light quarks, using a renormalization group improved gauge action and the Wilson quark action. We obtain a phase diagram which is consistent with that from the parity-flavor breaking scenario. The scaling relation for the chiral condensate assuming the critical expon...
